About Us

Welcome to the London Salvage Corps Association website. We have around 100 members and hold a yearly reunion, still achieving around 30 attendees. If you were a member, know someone who was in the "Salvage Corps" or perhaps your parents, grandparents or maybe a brother were, then please contact us - let us know ! We'd love to hear from you.

The London Salvage Corps (LSC)  Association was formed following the disbandment of the London Salvage Corps in 1984.

Our aims was to keep everyone in touch - all those Officers, Men and Control room Women that had worked so closely together in a fantastic job . The last years at the Aldersgate Street Station near Barbican, but also for those that had worked in other stations. We wanted to be able to send out information, news good and bad and meet at least once a year to talk about old times and reminisce. Tell those stories over and over !

There have been a few people involved over the years in running the association - Andy Adams, Barry Brown, Alec Davis, Ron Plummer and some others. All have done a great job and all purely voluntary.

Our late November reunion of "old boys" (even thought there are women there !) regularly gets around 30 attendees. We still get a new person turn up occasionaly that have never been before and others are there year on year. We hold our reunion at a Public House in the City of London in a private room upstairs. We have a buffet and I put on a raffle to gather in funds for the Association so we can keep on going.

One disappointment is that some of the officers, men and control room staff never "joined" the association and we have now lost touch with far too many. The address list I have currently consists of around 100 plus members. I do not hear from all of them, in fact I have never heard nor had subs from some of them, so to be honest I am not sure if they are still around - I just keep sending my newsletters out until I hear otherwise!

For the last year or so I have been gaining more and more email addresses so it is easier to contact people and of course, that saves on postage for Newsletters etc.

We are hoping that in having this website, some ex-members of the LSC will hear about the Association and contact us. This has happened via our Facebook page and our old website so - things can only get better as they say !

Photographs from many years are on here and they will keep being added. I hope to be adding stories from the past too - there are so many of them and I know so many of our members want to keep the History, the comaraderee of the Salvage Corps alive - on here - I hope I can do that.

That is it for now but I hope to keep on adding so please keep looking and if you have any ideas, let me know. Best Wishes Anne

Remember - feel free to send us photos, news, stories - anything for this page and tell us about your memories of the LSC !
